The earliest part of the complex is identified by a datestone as having been constructed in 1892. The property was occupied by Providence Lithograph in 1919. In 1929, Rau Fastener purchased the building and also constructed a 30,000 s.f. addition to the site. Rau Fastener, which has become the project’s recognized name, was the leading distributor of metal snap fasteners in the nation and played a large role in Rhode Island ‘s economy. By 1955, the complex appears as it does today.
